Newly designed in 2004, the Studio now has a thicker body that matches its namesake, hot open-coil humbuckers, a set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and mahogany body with carved top. Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Collection Electric Guitar, White

Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Collection Electric Guitar, White

  • Basswood body
  • 700T Humbucker pickups
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • 24.75 scale

Our number one selling model is more than just about the price. The Epiphone Special II is a great way for beginners to get started on guitar with real, Les Paul tone, but seasoned pros love the Special II because it’s a great-sounding, workhorse guitar that lets them leave their more expensive axes at home. The authentic LP power starts with all-Mahogany construction with a Rosewood fingerboard and is voiced by a pair of hot open-coil 700T and 650R Humbucker pickups. Like all of our electric guitars, it comes standard-equipped with 500K Ohms potentiometers, our own heavy-duty 3-way pickup selector toggle switch and non-rotating heavy duty output jack. This value-champ also features Chrome hardware including the Epiphone LockTone™ locking Tune-o-matic bridge and Stop-bar tailpiece for amazing sustain and even more mind-blowing value. That trademark Les Paul shape in an economical package, including to open-coil Alnico V Humbucker pickups for great classic sound and the Tune-o-matic bridge/Stopbar tailpiece combo for sustain and that Les Paul signature tone.

Les Paul Features in an Economical Package.

Angled Headstock
Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by “string-tree” gadgets.

Alnico V Humbucker pickups and the industry-standard Tune-O-Matic bridge.

Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.

Double-Waxed Pickups
Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures optimum performance. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is put in place to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax.

Output Jack
To increase reliability and ensure consistent performance, Epiphone’s proprietary output jacks feature an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel.

Toggle Switches
All Epiphones feature our all-metal, USA designed switches for reliable contact and longer life.

Tunomatic Bridge
Fully adjustable, the tunomatic remains a classic after over 50 years. Unlike guitars fitted with tremolos, there are no tuning or re-stringing difficulties. Plus, tone and sustain are improved because all string vibrations are transferred directly to the guitar.

Potentiometers
Epiphone is passionate about performance. That’s why their instruments use one-inch diameter potentiometers for better “throw,” longer life and reliable service.

Quick-Connectors
For unequalled reliability as well as ease of service, Epiphone wiring harnesses feature quick-connectors.

B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar, White

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

B.C. Rich ASM 1 Electric Guitar, White

  • Construction: bolt-on
  • Body wood: basswood
  • Top style: flat top
  • Tuners: B.C. Rich die-cast
  • Fretboard: rosewood

Bolt-on Construction A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic bolt-on construction. On these guitars the neck is connected to the body with 4 bolts. This construction offers some added flexibility in the guitar’s adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched). The Assassin was introduced in 1986. It was a double cutaway that was a departure for the odd shaped models that B.C. Rich was known for up until that time. In 1986, there were other double cutaways that B.C. Rich began making with various headstocks, pickup configurations, controls and finishes. The ASM model was one of these double cutaways but was introduced much later. There was an ASM 1 and ASM 2, with slightly different shapes and point shapes, but the more pointed and sleek model eventually settled in as the standard ASM shape. The Outlaw originally had holes drilled in the upper bout, but later models were more traditional looking, they were mostly bolt on necks like most of the double cutaway B.C. Rich guitars.

Gibson SG Zoot Suit Electric Guitar, Black and White

Gibson SG Zoot Suit Electric Guitar, Black and White

  • Style: Double Cutaway SG
  • Body: Laminated layers of dyed birch
  • Neck: Set Mahogany
  • Neck joint angle: 3°
  • Scale Length: 24-3/4″

The word zoot is jazz slang meaning extravagant style—certainly an apt description for the Gibson USA SG Zoot Suit electric guitar. The radical design starts with a body built with multiple birch wood laminate pieces (each one approximately .075″ thick), each dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. No paint is used. Each body is given two coats of satin nitrocellulose lacquer. The average weight of a Zoot Suit body is 5.7 lb., which is slightly heavier than normal but actually creates more balance, a solid feel, and brighter tones that prove compatible with the pickup configuration.Maximum sustain The Gibson SG guitar’s solid body yields maximum sustain and enhanced resonance. Gibson’s traditional rounded profile is hand-carved into the neck, delivering a comfortable, super-fast feel to one of the quickest necks in the industry. The headstock is carefully angled at 17 degrees, which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, which equals better sustain.Ceramic humbuckers The Zoot SG is loaded with Gibson’s eminent 496R Hot Ceramic and 500T Super Ceramic humbucking pickups, which feature clear coil forms and mounting rings to display the copper wire and ceramic magnets. The magnets in both the 496R and 500T pickups are Ceramic Five magnets manufactured at just the right temperature to ensure high intrinsic coercive force. The 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power, adding more highs with increased definition and no muddiness at all. The 500T is one of Gibson’s most powerful pickups, and contains a three ceramic magnet structure, which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. Each Gibson SG Zoot Suit Electric Guitar comes with a deluxe gig bag that features the classic Gibs

Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue VOS Electric Guitar, Classic White

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue VOS Electric Guitar, Classic White

  • Mahogany body
  • Set one-piece mahogany neck with long tenon
  • 22-fret rosewood fretboard
  • Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbucking pickups
  • Stop bar tailpiece

This Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard Reissue VOS was a futuristic design when it was introduced in 1960, and it still has a modern look. Featuring an ultra-thin, two-horned body, the SG series addressed 2 of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul body style: weight and limited access to the upper treble register. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul and offered access to the entire fretboard. This amazing re-creation includes pickups and long neck tenon modeled precisely on the original. The VOS aging treatment makes it look exactly like a vintage original instrument that’s been treated with loving care for its whole life…….

Dual high-output humbuckers with volume, tone, and toggle.

Widow-style headstock.

Agathis Body With Beveled Top
Agathis wood, like ash or alder, is firm and resonant, offering great sustain and a focused midrange at an affordable price. It’s perfect for the VG1′s non-traditional body shape.

Beveled Top
Most of B.C. Rich’s body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape, including this one. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles, giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.

Bolt-on Construction
A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic Bolt-on construction. On these instruments a neck is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.

The VG1′s rosewood neck boasts an ultra-playable natural satin finish, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with white pearloid dot inlays. The deep cutaways make access to higher notes a breeze, so you can shred away in that upper register without any problems.

B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups
The VG1 features two BDSM humbuckers. B.C.

Hardware
The VG1 features a wrap-around adjustable bridge, for serious sustain and solid tuning. The chrome die-cast tuners seal the deal.
