Takamine EG522C Classical Acoustic Electric Guitar

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Takamine EG522C Classical Acoustic Electric Guitar This G Series Classical Acoustic/Electric features a cutaway body with a spruce top and nato back and sides. This nylon stringed guitar comes with a rosewood fingerboard, bridge and peghead face, gold tuning machines, classic mosaic rosette and the new Takamine TK-4N electronics. The TK-4N is a 3-band EQ with a mid-shift control, EQ bypass switch and a notch filter to dial out troublesome feedback. The G Series from Takamine has created great controversy. Play an affordable G Series guitar and you're apt to think it's one of the finest acoustic-electrics made. That's because it is. Actually, each one is made under the commanding rule of the luthiers who hand-craft the guitars of the pros. Which is precisely why the G Series feel so good, and sound so good. TAKAMINE TK4NT PREAMP FEATURES The Takamine TK-4N Preamplifier found on G-Series guitars features volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a Notch Filter and a Mid Contour Switch. These last three features are described in greater detail below: EQ Bypass: This push button enables the user to engage or defeat the EQ section. When the switch is in the depressed position, the EQ is active. Return the switch to the 'up' position and the EQ circuit is bypassed. The bypass of the EQ circuit is desirable in some studio or live environments where external EQ is preferable. The user can also use this defeat switch to quickly check the results of the EQ adjustments relative to the original sound. Notch Filter: A Notch Filter is a very special kind of EQ, an extremely narrow and deep cut of an audio frequency band. The TK-4N has a 'tunable' notch filter which empowers the user to select the specific frequency band that will be affected by the notch. With this tunable notch filter the user can 'surgically' remove troublesome feedback frequencies that occur due to the natural resonances of the guitar and interaction with the environment. The notch control provides control of the center frequency of the notch effect. When the monitor or stage levels are too high, and the user hears the guitar starting to feed back, the player can engage the notch circuitry by pushing the 'In/Out' button under the 'Notch Filter' knob, and simply tune the filter (actually changing the center frequency of the notch) by slowly rotating the notch control until the feedback is eliminated. Mid Contour: By pushing (activating) the Mid Contour button, the user is selecting a pre-shape EQ that emphasizes the frequencies normally found to be 'desirable' in an acoustic guitar (400 Hz). With the Mid Contour button in the 400 Hz position (button depressed), the mid EQ is effectively controlling 'nasal' tone qualities while in the 800 Hz position (button out), the mid control can add punch in upper mids or help 'round off' the attack present in this frequency spectrum. The user should experiment with the button and the 'Middle' contro

Since their birth in Chicago in 1883, the name Washburn has been branded into the world's finest stringed instruments. If your interest in guitars borders on passion, you will settle for nothing less than a Washburn. The 1990s marked incredible growth for Washburn. It also saw the inclusion of some outstanding guitar innovators in the Washburn family: Nuno Bettencourt, Dimebag Darrell, Roger Waters, Bootsy Collins and Jennifer Batten have the distinction of being some of the few artists ever to be honored with a Washburn signature model guitar. In the twenty-first century, Washburn is continuing to build its history. Now more than ever, an investment in a Washburn guitar is a special gift for yourself or someone you know. Washburn History Some stories demand to be told. Others are simply content on being heard. Heard through music, through lyrics, through a cultural revolution. This is the story of Washburn Guitars. Steeped in the tradition of fine instrument making, Washburn Guitar"s dynamic 120-history began in Chicago in 1883. The original guitar factory was located just blocks away from Maxwell Street. In the early 1920s, Maxwell Street itself would emerge as the epicenter of a musical movement. Often considered the first entry point for thousands of African-Americans arriving from the Mississippi Delta, Maxwell Street became a hotbed for Delta Blues in its most raw and dramatic form. Newcomers and established musicians alike would listen and jam with one another in an atmosphere void of commercial influence. Once recorded, this powerful, emotional style of music would not only become the dominant form of blues but would radically change the emerging sound of rock and roll. There, on Maxwell Street, as well as in alleyways, city sidewalks, bars, and honky-tonks around the country, Washburn guitars were embraced as the very embodiment and reflective spirit of the hard-working musicians who played them as well as the employees who designed and crafted them. It is the same spirit that guides Washburn to this day. The history

BREEDLOVE C12/MP ACOUSTIC GUITAR FOR SALE

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Sorry about any flavorful adjectives I use here, but there is just no other way to describe this instrument.

This is a stunningly beautiful Breedlove C12/MP guitar I am selling due to a work-related hand injury. It is a master grade hand-made instrument which was crafted in Bend, OR, not China. When this guitar was purchased 4-1/2 years ago, it was not categorized like the new models. This is the model that started it all for Breedlove, even before the world-famous CM. Although this is the premiere body style which Breedlove was founded on, this neck is not. It has the widest (at the nut) neck that they make at 1-28/32. It also has a shallow profile at the nut, so to sum it up, this instrument has a wide nut area, string spacing, and almost a classical guitar feel to it. It is perfect for players that play both classical and steel stringed instruments, or for someone who requires (or just loves) a lot of room up at the nut. The wide spacing allows finger picking or the intricate use of a pick very easy and comfortable.

The body is 3-29/32″ at it’s greatest width, which is considered Breedlove’s shallow body (just a tad under normal body depth), which aids in projection and makes it easier to get your arms around.

The sonic quality of this guitar is just amazing,IMHO. It makes other guitars in it’s class pale in comparison. Sorry, but my camera’s sound quality is poor, so you’ll have to trust me on the quality of what this guitar is all about.

Watch the video for the complete low-down on this instrument.
