Smart FX knobs put award-winning Line 6 effects at your fingertips. |
Every effect is fully adjustable up to 7 parameters deep, including routing pre- and post-amplifier. |
Deep dive into your effects like never before! Every effect is fully adjustable up to 7 parameters deep, including routing pre- and post-amplifier. Sculpt your delays, mods, reverbs, pitch effects, and more with unparalleled control.
Line 6′s first intelligent pitch shifter, Smart Harmony is fast-tracking and easy to use. Harmonize using major, minor, pentatonic, whole tone, and other types of scales. (Don’t worry, you don’t need to know music theory to use Smart Harmony). And then there’s Pitch Glide, which is most effective when used with an FBV MkII foot controller. Use the foot pedal to smoothly shift your tone up or down to any interval within a four-octave range. Calibrate the effect to semitones, or to 10-cent increments to create cool chorus/detuning effects.
The Spider IV 120 also features Quick Loop, a 14-second sound-on-sound looper that’s ideal for writing songs, practicing solos, jamming, and even dialing in your tone! Easy to use, Quick Loops controls are all on the front panel. Connect an FBV MkII foot controller for hands-free control of the looper functions.
Get simultaneous FX. Use up to 8 effects at the same time! Pour on the colors and textures with all 4 Smart FX, set the Boost and the Noise Gate, activate Quick Loop, and connect an FBV MkII foot controller to kick on the volume/wah pedal. How many other amplifiers can deliver that?
Dialed-In Rock Star Tones and Presets
Who do you want to sound like today? Discover the tones of your heroes in Spider IV amplifiers. 50 famous guitarists and bands, including Coheed & Cambria, Johnny Marr, Slipknot, and others, hand-crafted more than 300 of their signature tones, and turned them into Spider IV presets–from sparkling cleans to effect-laden tones to saturated high-gain heaven.
Plus, get one-touch access to almost 200 tones based on the best guitar songs of all time. From the switchblade-swinging slapback of the 1950s to the high-gain distortion of the 2000s, get the tones from Master of Puppets, Back in Black, Whole Lotta Love, Daytripper, Toxicity, Purple Haze, Head Like a Hole, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Crazy Train, and more.
You’ll always sound your best with the built-in chromatic tuner. No need for an external tuner or additional guitar cables, this invaluable tool is integrated into the amps front panel. Simply activate the tuner with the push of a button.
Manual mode draws a more traditional amplifier experience out of Spider IV. When Manual mode is activated, all front-panel knobs work independently of one another. (Out of Manual mode, choosing an amp model may adjust the settings of the other front-panel knobs.)
To get the whole story of Spider IV amplifiers, you need to turn one around. All Spider IV combo amps feature a perfectly tuned three-quarter closed-back cabinet. This provides a tight, punchy, focused response that you can’t get from an open-back cabinet. And a large, two-line LCD is your window into Spider IV. This is where you can deep dive into effects and adjust their parameters, scroll over 500 presets, see the tuner interface, name your user-created presets, get a visual representation of where your Smart FX knobs are set, and more.

I had an old Line6 Flextone. This amp had plenty of power but I was never able to get the sound I was looking for out of it (no fault of the amp). I love Line6 products and now own three after purchasing the Spider IV. This amp has so many presets that you can just push a button and find that perfect sound you were looking for. You can custom dial in your own sound or take one of the presets and tweak it a little if you want.
The clarity and drive this amp produces is breathtaking. So loud yet so clean and clear, and down right nasty sounding when you want it to be.
The ease of use and the amazing sound this head produces makes it an incredible value. Check one out – you will love it.

The amp is great value for the price but it your into heavier music like metal it doesn’t really do as well as you would think. After reading alot of reviews on the web about this amp I tried it just for the hell of it since I haven’t upgraded amps in over 15 years. I shopped around for a half cabinets and this was in my price range with great reviews. The head unit and cab seem to be well built and the interface is tight, although getting used to navigating around the amps features is a little daunting and isn’t clearly explained in any manual. This unit as alot of presets from various genres of music from blues, rock, metal, to individual artists and decades of music. All though they have some neat presets I didn’t really find the tune-ability enough for me to get the metal tones I desire. Yeah they have a slayer, pantera, slipknot, even dino for fear factory preset but to my ear they don’t come close to those guys rigs. I was hoping I could even tune around to come close and get some death metal tones but, the adjustment just isn’t there. I guess for the money it’s justified but I should have went with the valve system which I heard demoed before and you can get the tone I’m looking for but triple the price. If your into pop music, country, blues, or even mainstream rock this is a great amp for you.

I haven’t had this amp for a long time, but the time I have shared with it has been great. I had a Marshall FX half stack a couple of years ago and the solid state distortion on that thing was fairly wretched. Kind of like a buzz saw. But, I think solid state technology has been coming around in the last few years. Especially, from Line 6. This amp sounds amazing. There are a TON of presets that you can cycle through and these will keep you busy for a while. Some of the high gain settings start to sound the same when you are playing them side by side though. Though I must give kudos to the fact that when you are playing on one of the high gain channels, it actually sounds like you are pushing tubes. I know that a lot of tube snobs won’t like this amp, but it’s getting closer. Plus if you’re like me, you bought a couple of nice tube amps and you got them home and realized…I’ll never be able to play this loud enough to drive the tubes. You could buy a hot plate attenuator, but those are about the same price as this amp head.
I play through an American Standard Telecaster mostly and you could play all types of music with this amp. I especially like how the mid’s sound on the some of the bluesy and clear channels. Something in the past that has always been a problem with solid state amps, is the fact that the mid’s get lost in the mix. This isn’t the case with this amp. You will love the sound. What are you waiting for, stop reading and buy one already!

Rating:
The effects range in quality from substandard to unusable, and the amp modeling is uninspiring, but the power and basic performance are very good. Cabinet is made like a tank. This has excellent power for studio and club applications. The speaker seems to have very good durability and dynamic range. The folded horn adds low end power, as does a very effective boost button. Controls are not the most flexible.
