    Would this be a …
Would this be a good guitar for playing Led Zeppelin stuff? I will probably replace the pickups (open coil bridge) and do the Jimmy Page wiring.

I can’t really go for any guitar that costs more than this, but I would appreciate any suggestions.

Frowned- imo the 100 would be the bare minimum acceptable for a beginner, I would try to get a Standard at least- better due to better tuners, set neck.

Your tone is really good. I can tell youve been playing a while. A lot of people discount actual finger tone and point towards the guitar. It also takes a good musician to pull out those kinds of sounds.

    Why not play them …
Why not play them side by side?!? He never even plugs in the Gibson!

    An Epi Les Paul …
An Epi Les Paul would be a fantastic beginners electric guitar…if you are dead set on learning. A good LP Standard is a lot more expensive then the Squier Strats you get, but having used both I was glad I put down the extra cash for the LP.

I don’t understand it when people criticize these Epiphones when they are blatantly decent for beginners or those on a tight budget. Of course they aren’t going to match up to a £1200 Gibson, but how can you expect miracles from a £300 axe?!

I have an epiphone LP custom limited. Stays in tune well, solid, and nice looking. But the low E string gets kinda shaky when u plug it a lil hard.

    I have an Epiphone …
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom (Chrome Limited Edition) And it just blows those 2 away, in looks. Mine looks at least 30 times better.
And btw. Why is the truss-rod cover on the gibson backwards? Overall, I think the headstock on all epiphones look better than the gibson headstocks. I’m epiphone to the bone :P Of course, I like gibsons, but they kinda all look the same. Epiphone have a wider radius when it comes to looks, and paintjobs and whatnot. But, Gibson rules anyway. I rest my case.

The pickups that Gibson uses in custom and in the regular studio are 490 & 498′s’. Epiphone does not use those pickups.

A setup is when you take your guitar to a tech to such things such as lowering the action to your liking, adjusting intonation, etc. in other words making the guitar to play at it’s best for the person that owns it.

I have a 76 Ibanez LP tobaco sunburst with the original pups and tuners. stays in tune always. I only had to change the treble switch because it got broke off. The guitar sat for many years before i bought it from a old man. Its was like new. All i did was a little set-up. Got a ibanez 59er to. That i put some PAFs in and new grover locking tuners. It screams. And the sustain on both are incredible. I have played gibsons. The only difference was price. My Ibanes have stood the test of time.
